Is it possible to find the best sofa at $1000? The short answer is yes. But not all sofas priced below that won’t be as high-end or elegant as you think. You think to yourself, “no problem, I just want somewhere my family, houseguests, and myself can sit on.” We’ll be taking a look at nine of the best sofas that are listed with a price tag south of $1000.
If you are doing a renovation of your living room or looking to change things up, maybe it’s time to consider switching up the furniture a bit. Perhaps a new sofa could be on the cards? If that is the case, then one of the nine we’ll be reviewing below just might be your next best purchase. There are different kinds of lengths, upholsteries, and designs that will make sofas stand out in more ways than one (and bring a personal reflection of your personality and taste to your home).
More features: easy to clean; can be a sectional sofa bed; easy to assemble; wearproof; solid wood frame
First, on the list, we’ll be taking a look at the FDW Sectional Sofa. This is available in either a right-handed or left-handed corner. Choose between one or the other, and it will be a great fit for your living room.
This has leather upholstery, which makes the sofa very durable. It also has that high-end look that will reflect your personal tastes. If anything, leather might as well be one of the most valuable types of upholstery regardless if it’s a sofa or a reclining chair.
This comes with a sectional sofa bed that you can fold out whenever you have houseguests. Have them sleep in comfort right in your living room or a spare guest room. Either way, you get the best comfort in more ways than one.
If you hate the idea of having to spend all day cleaning a sofa, the good news is you’ll be able to clean this with the greatest of ease. After all, leather upholstery does a good job of being easy to clean (unlike most fabric upholsteries).
This sofa is perfect for most modern style homes and is for anyone who prefers style and comfort above everything else. Not bad for a sofa that is south of $1000 (and considered a nominee for Editor’s Choice).
What we liked: Of course, the overall look is one of our favorite things about this sofa. It gives off that elegant vibe that will wow your guests the moment they set foot inside your living room. Another thing that we were happy with was how easy it was to clean. With all the stains, spills, and everything in between, that happens regularly, and they can be easily cleaned up since leather doesn’t absorb the mess.
What could be better: One of the things that we think should be improved is the foam. When used quite frequently, it has a habit of leaving some imprints that won’t go away. That might be a problem down the road, and it can affect someone’s personal comfort.
More features: solid hardwood frame; removable and reversible back seat cushions; easy to assemble
Up next, we have the Rivet Aiden Tufted Mid-Century Modern Sofa. This is a sofa that is designed for a more modern style home. And it’s pretty comfortable by the looks and feel of it. If you like velvet, the upholstery included is velvet-like, so you get that nice high-end feel that you’ll often find on sofas that are going for double the price.
The seat height stands at about 17 inches, which is the perfect height for most sofas. With a solid hardwood frame, it can stand the test of time and can be very durable both in structure and upholstery. If you are looking for a sofa that will last you years, this one might be exactly what you’re looking for.
At just less than 90 pounds, it’s a light sofa that can be moved around if you are looking to rearrange your entire living room setup. Plus, you don’t have to disassemble and reassemble (even though it is easy to put it together). It’s a mid-century sofa designed for the modern time period. If you are looking for something where classic fuses together with modern, this just might be the sofa for you and your living room.
What we liked: Right off the jump, we were quite happy with the ease of assembly and the lightweight. It’s a sofa that will fit perfectly for small living rooms, office spaces, and guest rooms. The design is sleek, contains a mix of old school and new school, and has a nice smooth feel overall. If you want something that is soft, comfortable, and perfect for modern style homes, this is the best choice.
What could be better: One of the things that we think could be better is making the sofa a bit heavier. Here’s why we suggest this: you could be shifting around while you are sitting or lying down, and you may unintentionally move it. So, it would make sense to at least suggest making it a bit heavier to prevent all that slip and sliding. Also, it can do your floors a favor since some wear and tear can be linked-to furniture being shifted around at times.
More features: assembly required; has a storage place
Our best value nominee might just have one of the best designs period. This is one of the more elegant sofas that you can snag for just south of $1000. The fabric upholstery is nice and strong, so if you are looking for something that isn’t easy to rip, this might be a good choice for a sofa. This includes a reversible sleeper sectional that will be perfect for people who will be crashing at your house for a few days.
The sectional is easy to fold out and easy to fold back in. And it’s pretty comfortable too. Who says you have to sleep in a bed to stay comfortable? The fabric upholstery is easy on the skin, so if you or anyone you know may have a skin sensitivity, this won’t be so bad to lay or nap on.
One of the things that are included in this set is the storage space that is under the footrest. You can store things like magazines, newspapers, remotes, or anything you don’t want to lose all in one place. It’s easy to lose small items that somehow end up underneath the cushions or under the couch itself. Now you have a designated spot to put everything.
What we liked: The entire design is awesome. Especially with the inclusion of the footrest that doubles as a storage compartment. It’s spacious, allows you plenty of space, and will always put itself to good use whenever you need it. We also like how it was easy to fold out and easy to fold back in when you are finished. These days, sofa sleepers are perfect for homes big and small (especially when you have guests coming over).
What could be better: One of the things that could improve is making it a bit more comfortable in terms of sitting down. Yes, the structure is made from sturdy plywood. But for some users laying or sitting down on it for the first time, it may feel like they are laying down on a piece of plywood. It wouldn’t hurt to add a little extra padding in most places.
More features: a wood frame; functions as sofa, lounger, or bed; wood legs
Description – Serta is by far one of the most familiar brands when it comes to furniture. Of course, we wouldn’t want to leave it off our list when we came across their Dream Convertible sofa. If you have used Serta products in the past and have become a fan, you might just grab this out of pure instinct. After all, a great brand name plus a price tag that is less than $1000…how can you possibly say no to that?
Made with leather upholstery, it’s perfect for the home, office, or even an extra room where you, your family, and houseguest can lounge around. This has multiple functions as a sofa, lounger, or even a bed. It’s also got a solid wooden frame that will support most users of any size. If you’ve bought sofas that were too short or too long, this one might be just right (borrowing a line from a famous childhood story).
You can easily convert the sofa into a bed in a matter of seconds. Easy deployment, easy fold, no problem. It’s a lot better than some cheap, crappy futon that will take minutes to fold or unfold. Plus, the frustration that comes along with it is no picnic either.
What we liked: As mentioned, the easy conversion is what makes this sofa a rockstar in the eyes of so many. Not only that, but the look and feel also makes it look like you are living the lap of luxury. It’s durable, easy to clean, and worth the addition to your home. We were quite happy with the sturdy frame since it has the ability to hold its own. You can be short and slender or a bit on the heavy side. This sofa can handle a good amount of body frames and types.
What could be better: The padding while providing a decent amount of comfort, it feels a little stiff. For some, it will be like sitting or lying on a rock. Of course, the one thing we’d improve would be adding a bit more padding or find softer padding that will give users that happy medium in terms of comfort.
More features: hardwood frame; sturdy; modern design; removable cushions; easy to assemble
Description – If you are looking for sturdiness, a modern design, and plenty of comforts, then the Rivet Cove Mid-Century Modern Tufted Sofa might just be right up your alley. This couch comes with fabric upholstery, but you can choose between four different colors. When it comes to color, it all comes down to personal preference.
This sofa comes with removable cushions, which will make cleaning super easy compared to most sofas on the market. Yes, it can be a real pain to clean sofas (especially in between the cushions, underneath them, and so on). If you like simple, we don’t stop there with the cleaning part. The assembly part is also simple, as well. You can easily screw in the legs, and you’re done. It’s that easy.
Aside from the simplicity, you get a modern design that will blend in with most living room sets. So, whether you own or rent a modern condo or a single-family home that is a bit older in age, the sofa itself might bring a little extra youth to your personal set up.
For a simple, easy to set up a sofa that will be perfect for friends, family, and guests, this one might just be the best option for you. Especially when you want to place it in a room that’s rather small in size.
What we liked: Obviously, one of the things that stuck out, in our opinion, is the quick assembly. We know how frustrating the furniture assembly process can be. With a sofa like this, it’s screwed on the legs, and you’re done. Nothing too complicated, plus you save yourself some not so kind four-lettered words in the process. Another thing that we appreciate is the mid-century design that really makes the sofa stand out in any living room or guest room.
What could be better: One of the things that could be improved is the fabric. This is not friendly to those who have sensitive skin. The texture is a bit rough to the point where it can make someone it. So, something smoother in terms of fabric might be a good substitute. While it is not too soft or hard, it’s comfortable. But it would be more comfortable if it didn’t make you itch all night long.
More features: simple assembly; padded with thick sponge; sturdy hardwood frame
Description – If you have a living room that’s large in size, this might be the perfect sofa set up. This includes an Ottoman, which will give you plenty of storage space, so you don’t lose remotes, books, and all kinds of small objects. It’s a lot better than having to tear apart the sofa and try to search high and low for whatever you may have lost.
This sofa set includes a chaise lounge, six total pillows, and a three-seat sofa. It’s the perfect set for anyone looking to upgrade their living room into something that is less bland and more inviting for houseguests. The upholstery is a suede fabric, which gives it that luxury feel. Speaking of luxury, it’s the closest thing you can get to it at the price that it’s going for.
This has extra thick foam padding, which will really crank up the comfort. So if you are sitting on it while relaxing or taking a power nap, it will feel nice and soft (without feeling too firm like some sofas). For a sofa set with all the fixings, this whole entire set up is quite a steal since it’s under $1000 in price. What would you do if a steal of a deal was right in front of you?
What we liked: It’s a sofa set where you get a lot of the goodies. If that isn’t something that’s impressive enough, well, there are other things we’ll get into. The suede fabric feels nice, comfortable, and makes the sofa look more aesthetically pleasing. Plus, what better way to complete the setup like the Ottoman. With plenty of storage space, you can always put it to good use somehow, someway.
What could be better: The cushions might feel a little hard for some users. But there is plenty of padding to make it just as comfortable. But if anything, it should be fine to make it a little bit softer just to make sure it doesn’t feel like you are sitting or lying on a stack of bricks.
More features: a wooden frame; removable back cushions; fixed seat cushions; made to order
Description – If you are looking for a love-seat style sofa, this one from Stone & Beam might just catch your eye. This is available in three different colors, so you might choose one that will match perfectly with your living room. Matching might be the last thing you’ll want to think about (unless you have a knack for interior decor).
The frame is made from solid wood, so it is strong enough to handle two people and plenty of weight as well. Since it’s small in size, it can fit nicely in any small-sized room. Wouldn’t it look nice in your den or a basement lounge room? The polyester upholstery makes this sofa very comfortable to sit or nap in.
If you want extra comfort, you can remove the back cushions. Plus, it should also give you plenty of space as well. With removable cushions, that means you can be able to clean it from top to bottom with ease. You can clean this on a regular basis and keep it free from dust, crumbs, debris, and everything in between.
This sofa is built to last, and it is hard to wear and tear. If you are looking for something small and simple, this one just might be your cup of tea.
What we liked: We liked the polyester upholstery. It was soft. Not too rough or too smooth. It was right on the money when it comes to personal comfort. We also liked how it’s easy to assemble, as well. Rather than spend hours trying to figure it out, you can spend minutes putting it together, and you’re done.
What could be better: While the fabric throughout most of the sofa was sturdy, the same could not be said about the bottom half. It was soft, delicate, and, therefore, easy to tear. The fabric around the zipper area of the cushions should also be a bit sturdier, so it doesn’t wear and tear as easily as the rest of the sofa.
More features: a wood frame; convertible; reversible L-shaped silhouette; two pillows included; weight capacity of 600 pounds; storage included
Description – If you are looking for the perfect 3-seater that can easily convert into a sofa-bed, the Tribesigns Convertible Sectional Sofa might be a perfect choice. If you have houseguests, you don’t need to purchase an additional bed for a guest room. You can simply get a sofa like this, and they can fold it out (or you can prepare for it yourself). It’s a soft, full-sized bed that will give you or your guests a comfortable night’s sleep.
The upholstery is made from brushed linen, which is soft, cozy, and will give users that added layer of comfort whether they are sitting or laying down. If you are looking for a sofa that has a weight capacity that can handle plenty of it, this sofa will handle up to 600 pounds. In other words, it can handle up to three people who equally weigh 200 points. Of course, it’s sturdy enough to handle all kinds of body types and frames
If you need a couple of extra pillows for when you doze off, this sofa has two pillows on each end that you can use. They are soft, comfortable, and will give you a decent amount of support for your head and neck.
What we liked: One of the things we liked the most was the inclusion of the footrest at the other end of the sofa. It’s nice to kick back and relax while watching TV or playing the latest video game titles. Plus, it might be the most popular spot for the whole sofa.
What could be better: The one con we were able to point out is the buttons. They tend to come off easily after short term use. Either they need to be sewn securely, or they need to be even sturdier than they are.
More features: available in different colors; wooden frame; elastic webbing
Description – Finally, we’ll be taking a look at the Knowlife Sectional Sofa Couch. One of the things we’ve noticed right off the bat was the L-shaped design at the other end. It’s perfect for those who like to sit, relax, and curl up while watching TV or reading a book. The velvet upholstery adds more comfort while you are sitting or sleeping.
While it doesn’t have a convertible bed like most sofas, it’s a nice sofa for your house guests to sleep on if they don’t mind it at all. Other than that, it’s a great three-seater for a large living room. Whether it’s for the kids or the parental units and a couple of kids, it’s sturdy enough to handle a good amount of weight.
This sofa is available in various colors and is built on a solid wooden frame that will prove its worth in the durability department. Simply put, it’s built to last and built to give you comfort for you and the entire family. This is the perfect sofa for a large living room or even a basement lounge if you have the room. Imagine relaxing on this bad boy while watching the game downstairs or in between rounds of pool with your buddies.
What we liked: The suede upholstery is awesome. It feels great and it might feel like you are living the high life. Plus, its overall design is made for modern times. If your home is a bit modern and newer compared to others around the block, this sofa might just match the style.
What could be better: The one downfall of this sofa is that it’s a little firmer than expected when you first sit on it. So, the one improvement that we suggest is that it should get softer quickly during the initial “break-in” period.
Suppose you are having a hard time choosing between one sofa or the next, no need to worry. This buyer’s guide will help you find a sofa that fits you personally. We’ll be taking a look at some features that you need to consider before purchasing a sofa.
We will also be looking at frequently asked questions so that you have a better understanding of how you can clean your sofa’s upholstery and the best ways to care for it properly. Read through the guide carefully so you can be able to get a good idea of what you want to look for in a sofa before making a final decision.
You might be looking for something that is long enough for the entire family to sit on (like the FDW Sectional Sofa) or something built for two or three, like the Serta Dream Convertible Sofa.
Not all sofas are created equal. Depending on the price points, there are some differences between a sofa going for $500 and another going for anywhere north of $1000. But regardless, sofas serve the same purpose. What are some things to expect from a sofa below a specific price range? Here’s a brief list of things you should be aware of:
Durability: If there is one important thing to expect from sofas under $1000, it’s that the durability might be on par or slightly less compared to even more expensive sofas. At the same time, it all depends on the material and upholstery that is included.
Easy to assemble: Like most sofas, a sofa under $1000 will likely be much easier to assemble. That’s because a majority of them are not lengthy in size compared to some sofa sets. Even if it’s a complete sofa set, it’s not as long compared to more expensive types. The shorter the length, the easier it can be for assembly.
Shipping costs: Depending on the weight and different measurements, the shipping costs when ordering a sofa under $1000 might not be as high. Some places might offer free shipping for purchases for orders over a specific amount.
To help you make the best decision on a sofa, it’s important to consider a few things. What would be the right size? Is there a certain seat height that is considered your “cut off”? These are some things to keep in mind while searching for a sofa. At less than $1000, you’d be surprised by what you can find for sofas. Whether it’s small or large, you are bound to find something. Now, let’s take a look at the following list of considerations below.
There are various sizes of sofas that are available for under $1000. At the same time, you’ll also need to consider the size of the room you want to put a sofa in. For example, the size of a sofa in your living room might depend on the living room’s total measurements. If it’s large in size, you might get away purchasing a good enough sofa set with all the fixings.
If the room is smaller in size, likewise, the sofa should be smaller in length. When it comes to size, please consider what it can be used for. Will it be just for sitting down, or do you plan on taking a nap? Some smaller sofas might not be suitable for taller people to nap in compared to others.
A smaller sofa would be the Stone and Beam Blaine Modern Loveseat Sofa. If you want something longer, you may want to consider something like the FDW Sectional Sofa.
The seat height is super important. If you are someone who is on the tall side, it’s obvious that you’ll need something with higher seat height. That way, you don’t want to feel like you are sinking down while sitting. You’ll want something that is just right and gives you enough height to support your body, so it doesn’t feel like you are slouching down. Ideally, most of the seats stand at least 15 to 19 inches in height (which includes all of the sofas on our list).
Like seat height, seat depth is very important. You don’t want to sit on a sofa that is so deep you feel like a little child sitting in a big chair. If you don’t mind sitting upright on a sofa, then you may want to find a sofa that doesn’t give you a lot of seat depth. The Lilola Home Lucca Linen Reversible Sleeper Sectional Sofa listed above is measured at 18 inches in seat depth, which is perfect for those who want to sit up straight and not feel like they are melting into the chair itself.
As you may have noticed throughout the reviews, there are plenty of different types of upholstery—leather, suede, polyester, and so on. The choices are all up to you. It all depends on which one will reflect on your personal preferences. However, durability is the one thing you need to worry about. Leather and some softer fabrics will be difficult to wear and tear. At the same time, you want to consider an upholstery that isn’t difficult to clean up.
If you choose a soft material, there might be a special way to clean it up if there are any stains, spills, and other messes.
The weight of a sofa must be considered carefully. If it’s a bit heavier in weight, one of the downsides would be moving it around. Especially when you are looking to move it from one room to the next (or one side of the same room to the other). Carrying it will be a multi-person job. Anything lighter can be easily moved around. But the problem occurs when you move around while you sit or sleep.
Frequent moving around may cause your floor to wear or tear (depending on the material). If your living room has a hardwood floor, the legs of a sofa may rub up against the wood and cause some wear or even cracks in the floor. So, it would be ideal for placing a small rug underneath the sofa to ensure that it doesn’t move around as much.
If you want something light in weight, the Rivet Aiden Tufted Mid Century Sofa is great to have since it weighs 84 pounds. If you want something heavier, the FDW Sectional Sofa, which clocked in at just above 260 pounds on the sale.
The warranty is a must-have no matter what kind of sofa you choose. The question is, how long do you want it to last? Also, what should your warranty cover? Things do happen to a point where you may need to use the warranty that you have. Warranties can cover replacement and repair costs due to defects and accidents. But they might not cover such instances like intentional damage or abuse. All warranties should be lengthy and should last no less than a year. The longer the warranty, the better the chances it will be honored should anything ever happen to it. Most of the sofas have a one-year warranty, whereas the Stone and Beam Modern Loveseat Sofa has a three-year warranty.
If you are looking for extra features, then you may want to consider the idea of getting a sofa set that contains some additional features like a sofa bed or even an ottoman. Let’s go into brief details as to why these extra features are important. Beginning with the sofa bed, it provides your houseguests with an extra bed to crash on. This is one of the most cost-effective ways to grab an extra mattress for a guest room rather than having to shell out a lot of money for a separate mattress at all. They come in different sizes and are usually comfortable enough for a good night’s sleep. With ottomans, they can serve a couple of purposes. For one, you can use it as a footrest while you kick back and relax. Most of them come with storage compartments that will be great for storing remotes, magazines, newspapers, and other things that you don’t want to lose. Wouldn’t it be great if you didn’t have to lose the remote every single time you’ve touched it?
Out of the nine best sofas under $1000, it’s hard to choose which one might be the best. But we do have a few award winners. Each of them has a few great features like great upholstery (leather or fabric), a solid wood structure that can handle a lot of weight, and unique designs that can crank up the relaxation to a ten. Let’s take a look at the three award winners and why they stand out:
Editor’s Choice: The FDW Sectional Sofa is our Editor’s choice because it’s fit for a large living room. And it’s one of the perfect sofas for the whole entire family. We see this being the go-to place for family movie night (not to mention, the leather upholstery is quite sturdy).
Best Value: The Lilola Home Lucca Linen Reversible Sleeper Sectional Sofa is our best value pick. The reason it’s our pick for this category is that you can get a comfortable sofa at a pretty reasonable price. Not to mention, for the price, it’s going for you’re getting quite a steal. If you are looking for a comfortable sofa that is guaranteed to be your go-to relaxation place, kick your feet up with this bad boy.
Premium Pick: Lastly, our premium pick is Rivet Aiden Tufted Mid-Century Modern Sofa. With its mix of old school and modern design, it’s a sofa that is light in weight and fitting for almost every living room setting. It’s velvet upholstery, and sturdy frame definitely makes this one of the sofas where luxury is the word.
Can someone recommend a high-quality sleeper sofa under $1000? I know that many stores offer sofas at this price range that are good quality and look like they cost millions but not sure which is better.
If high-quality for you means ‘high durability’ and ‘long lasting’ then I cannot help but recommend some old, traditionally made sofas of good quality, specially designed for long use (and not to impress your friends). Those traditional products are still being made now, not as often as they used to be, but they’re there.
Hi everyone! I was wondering if there are some of the drawbacks to buying a leather sofa under 1000 dollars?
I would say that it will not be made with high quality material. Leather sofas are generally more expensive than wool ones. Also the upholstery will be thin and cheap so it wont last long before you need to replace it with something new. They’re also often cheaply made by unknown brands who dont have much experience in furniture making or design.
could anyone clarify what’s a reasonable price for a sofa? thanks
What’s “reasonable” for you? It’s very subjective and depends on an individual’s budget. I’m sure the sofas under $1,000 are the exact same quality as expensive ones. The one I bought 4 years ago is still in good shape, and the cushions are still great. Just find something you think is best for your budget. Other than that, you’ll get a variety of answers as to what is regarded as reasonable by one or another person.
Guys, don’t skimp on the sofa and spend a little more instead of looking for budget models. Do you really think that you will find firm sofas under 1000 of good quality???
I need a sectional sofa for my new apartment and thought of buying something inexpensive to start off. But I know how fickle furniture is with being too deep or flat, so I am really on the fence. My budget is just under 1000 dollars, nothing more than that. Is there any advice about shopping for budget-friendly sofas?
first remember that the most expensive part of a sofa is typically not the material or the color, but the size. There are some budget-friendly brands that offer sofas that cost under $1000 like target, ikea and sears, they often have sales on their sofas and they’re usually not overpriced. You can also check out furniture consignment stores in your area and check out online sites like craigslist and ebay (or just go to a second-hand store and find some amazing finds)
Thanks I looked for one in the clearance section and its pretty good quality
